.......Perpetual adolescence; The Peter Pan syndrome; eternal youth; In Latin, puer aeternus, the term used by Ovid in The Metamorphoses to describe the child-god Iacchus. Jung adopted the term to describe someone, most often a men, who remains too long in adolescence. Marie-Louise von Franz, the author of The Proble of the Puer Aeternus, describes such men as being charming, unconventional, ful of interesting ideas and ever in pursuit of their dreams. They get bored easily, and always have to have a new plan. They have difficulty with commitment, particularly to anything they see as mundane; they are horrified by the idea of a "normal"life and yet they are able, when enthusiastic about a task in hand, "to work twenty-four hours at a stretch or even longer, until they break down".......
